Cookie Kit
Kit Includes 6 or 12 cookies (top and bottom)
1 jar of homemade vanilla playdoh
Ways to play:
Cookie Bakery:** Set up a pretend cookie bakery. Children can create their own unique cookie combinations by selecting different cookie bases, sprinkle toppings, and frosting dough.
Decorate and Serve:** Provide plates and trays for children to assemble and decorate their pretend cookies. They can then "serve" their creations to family members, friends, or stuffed animals.
Cookie Shop Role-Play:** Transform the play area into a cookie shop. Children can take turns being customers and "bakers," ordering and decorating their favorite pretend cookies.
Fine Motor Practice:** Decorating cookies with small sprinkle toppings and frosting dough supports fine motor skill development as children manipulate and place the pieces.
Color and Shape Recognition:** Use different-colored sprinkle toppings to encourage color recognition. Discuss and identify shapes as children select sprinkle shapes to use.
Imaginative Storytelling:** Encourage children to imagine stories and scenarios involving their pretend cookies. Cookies can become characters or elements in their imaginative tales.
Sensory Exploration:** Sensory play comes alive as children manipulate the dough for frosting, feel the textures of sprinkle toppings, and assemble cookies.
Creative Artistry:** Treat the cookie bases as canvases. Children can design intricate patterns with the sprinkle toppings and frosting dough to create unique cookie artworks.
Cooking Exploration:** Discuss the concept of baking and cooking as children pretend to mix, bake, and frost their cookies.
Language Development:** Introduce new vocabulary related to baking, cooking, and describing colors, shapes, and textures.
Pattern Play:** Challenge children to create patterns and sequences with the sprinkle toppings on the cookie bases.
